Modern technology has launched us into a time of convenience, of instant gratification. With a flick of a switch we can light up the darkness, connect ourselves with the world, or travel anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. With a swipe of a miracle wipe we can destroy germs on our counters and on our children. Mankind has also harnessed the power of the atom.
It all sounds so easy, until we realize that through our modern, automated, throw away lifestyles have created a "toxic soup" mixture that no one can avoid. Take for example personal care products that are made to enhance our lives: according to when NIOSH (the Nation Institute for Occupational Health and Safety) that analyzed the 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products, that is deodorant, soaps, hair care, bath salts, body powder and the like, used up 884 chemicals that are toxic in nature to make these products. These chemicals could cause biological mutations, reproductive problems and some were proven to be acutely toxic. The average adult uses about 9 personal care products daily and that equates to about 126 chemicals a day! That's just on our bodies!
"Toxic Soup" terminology has been around for quiet while. It means essentially all the things added to our life that are not natural. All the chemicals added to our personal care products, our cleaning supplies, the things used to produce the energy that makes our lives easier than before are ingredients of this soup' that we live our lives in.
According to WHO (the World Health Organization), two thirds of the cancers inflicting our species, is due to our exposure to toxins added to our environment. Even the medicines that we take to cure ourselves have effects and risks that add directly or indirectly to the mixture that make up this deadly soup.
Another example of this toxic soup mixture is the frogs found in Minnesota. After testing the deformity found in the frogs was linked to pesticides and fertilizer used on crops. Some of the deformities included extra limbs, elongated jaws and skin discoloration. This was also noted when DDT was used on crops producing deformed birds. These same toxins are found not only in the grains, but the run off ends up in our drinking water. One must also take into consideration the amounts carried off in the air to be breathe in directly by living things.
Imagine if you will, all the toxins that are poured into your environment in the making of electric, paints, clothing, cleaning supplies, and plastics, everything that makes our lives so easy. We are paying a price for all these convinces, in the form of increased cancers, cardio vascular disease, allergies, asthma, depression plus many others that know no boundaries regarding age or race. These diseases are now being noted as happening in epidemic proportions to the populations of the world.
All these modern toxins are in food supplies, water and in our air. You can be tested to find heavy metals and chemicals in your body. Scientists have even test umbilical cords and found these compounds that babies are exposed to even before birth. These results show the price that we, as a species, are paying for modern conveniences.
