Well here we are again-it's election year. Will they drive all of us crazy with their constant campaigning on the tv and the internet? The presidential campaigns and the politics of it all-good and bad.
We've been through this all before, so I guess we can survive another barrage of attacks of one Party against the other Party.
The only problem is that if the Democratic Party has a good idea, the Republican Party doesn't like it and if the Republican Party has a good idea, the Democratic Party doesn't like it.
So this going to get us nowhere in these silly little Presidential campaigns.
And look at the money spent on all their vicious ads attacking each other. We could feed the world.
These are the politics of the good and the bad. Trouble is most of it is bad politics.
And the length of time of the campaigns is absolutely silly. Half the people don't pay attention anyway until almost election time. So what are they doing? Why are spending so much money and why are they driving us all crazy? How much can we take of these Presidential campaigns?
And that's not the worst of it. Why don't we have more suitable and capable people running for office? I'm sure there are thousands of intelligent people in the United States who would make a wonderful President.
Why aren't the best of us running? Is it because it has become so political that no one is allowed to run unless in a certain political group? Is it because we almost have a kingdom here with only the Bushes or the Clintons allowed to run for the Presidency? Is it because the personal lives of those running are exposed to such an extent that no one wants the job?
All of us are humans and not saints so I'm sure we all have skeletons in our closets, so this exposure of our personal lives should not be allowed if we have to have the best and finest for the office of President.
We need to change the system for our Presidential campaigns.
We need to elect our Presidents on ideas and intelligence, not on campaign slogans or sound bites.
We need to elect our Presidents on their sincerity and not on their idle promises to never be fulfilled.
We need to elect our Presidents thoughtfully for the good of our whole Nation.
We need to elect our Presidents wisely for the future of our children.
Let's elect our President based on his qualifications, not on who we would like to have a barbecue with in our backyard.
One idea being tossed around a lot is the idea of having our elections settled by the candidate who gets the popular vote (the vote of the most people) instead of elected by delegates and states. This might be a good or bad is idea? We should all think about it.
And when our President is finally elected, he should not be crowned a king or declared a dictator. He should be subject to the overseeing of the Congress of the United States of America.
This is the system we are supposed to have, so let's make sure we have it in the future.
So let's make our Presidential campaigns make sense. Our Country depends on it.
