Artist profile: Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson was born November 18, 168 in The Lone Star State, so Dallas Texas is where he arrived on the scene that led him to become an Academy Award nominated American actor, writer and celebrity. Best known for his comical roles in Wedding Crashers and Zoolander, he is also known for his distinguished nose and the fact that he's a member of, "The Frat Pack."

OWEN WILSON AND THE FRAT PACK:

USA Today coined the phrase, "The Frat Pack," to describe a group of Hollywood comedy actors who had appeared together in many of the biggest comedy hits from the 1990's to 2000. They include Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Steve Carell and none other than Owen Wilson. Named after, "The Rat Pack," with actors who could have been their grandfathers, the name derives from that and the fact that Frat Pack is the shorthand term for a college fraternity.

OWEN WILSON: A MISUNDERSTOOD AND NOT SO DELINQUENT TEEN

Raised in The Lone Star State, as an Irish Catholic and by his photographer mother and advertising executive dad, along with two brothers, one would think Owen Wilson would be a responsible teen, but I'm sure Wilson's parents must have been worried about their son, who instead, seemed to be a teen delinquent.

Apparently, in high school when he chose to snatch his teacher's manual to the class text book answers in an effort to cheat in math, he got caught. As a result, he'd be expelled from tenth grade at St. Mark's School of Texas, so he spent his senior year at The New Mexico Military Institute. Still, one is left to assume that he wasn't a, "bad kid," but simply misunderstood. The truth was and would remain true that he didn't want to be in school, but wanted to be in Hollywood.

OWEN WILSON'S DREAM: THE HOLLYWOOD SCENE:

In 1991, Wilson moved to Los Angeles with his brothers Luke and Andrew, so one can only assume what their parents thought of their insane pursuit of acting careers. Still, they were young and adventurous, so they made up their minds to wing it, have a good time and give acting a shot for the first time in their lives.

As it turned out, Owen found success almost from the start after his part in Bottle Rocket, but he also became a key creative collaborator in two directorial efforts with Wes Anderson. After that, he quickly landed roles in some big budget movies, including The Cable Guy. After a few minor appearances in some action films, including, Anaconda,
