I stand
Obsolete and disconcering
Silently but readily
Awaiting the rain to fall
Everything you and I were
Before tonight
Pelting the cold pavement beneath my bare feet
Washing away the worries
Washing away the things I never wanted to be
Washing away the hope that I may retain some pride
You take my hand
Eyes to the sky
You are keeping me from floating away
With the memories
Evaporating like the mist around us
And without memories, the yesterdays
There cannot be a tomorrow
But for right now it is just you and me
Truly visible for the first time
Without all the attachments
And you still loved me anyway
