Money-saving tips: How to cut your driving expenses

by MAD

At this day and age, everything keeps on rising. Prices just never seem to go down anymore. It gets harder to keep up with daily cost of living. One of these is driving expenses. The oil market continues to skyrocket!

We can all help each other out in making things easier, no matter how little. Here are some money-saving tips that we should keep in mind. They are practical tips that everybody knows, but we need reminders for it. Sometimes, we tend to do things automatically and it slips off our mind on how to go about in saving.

TIPS IN CUTTING DOWN DRIVING COSTS:

1. DISTANCE - When the place you're going to is near and you can easily walk towards it, do so. Walking is not only a practical way of saving gas, it is a good exercise too. It would keep you healthy. Walking is a good way to keeping your wallet happy and great for your health also. If you are going to a shop or two or more and it has a big parking lot, just park in between. Then walk yourself to the different stores, instead of parking and transferring and transferring. This is very handy.

2. POOL BONDING - Yes, car pool is the "in" thing nowadays. If you're in a group going to the same venue, have bonding times by going carpooling. You can also pitch in together for the gasoline expense, or take turns with the carpool.

3. ALTERNATIVES - Know how to ride the bike? Then bike away! It is a lot of fun and another way of keeping fit. Or if you're up to the fun challenge, learn how to bike and it can save you up on gas. Another surefire way, when you are up to it and it is an easy, good commute, take the bus or train, or any other means to reach your destination. Enjoy the view as well in being a commute passenger!

4. SCHEDULE - Take note of the activities you are to do daily. Planning your route wisely can actually save you up on gas. Don't waste unnecessary trips like by going back and forth to the grocery store. Schedule your errands. If you can do away with not having to go out, or have it done on another day with your other stuff, all the better. Good time management is very helpful.

5. MAINTENANCE - Keeping your car in good, running condition goes a long way. A car that runs in trouble would only lead to more headaches and holes in your pocket. Make sure that you do regular maintenance for your car. Have the tires' air pressure checked regularly. Do oil checks. Pump up gas in good intervals. If you gas up when the tank is already empty, that is costlier. Check your car's engine regularly that it is not in the conking out stage already. A good car maintenance keeps its owner/driver happy and a good driver, in turn, does good car maintenance.

So with these in mind, keep on saving and it will keep you more at ease during these hard times.
