The concept of dual master bedrooms and the advantages of this bedroom design, came as a surprise to our family, when my husband was unexpectedly offered a chance for early retirement in his mid-fifties. Like many newly retired, but still very active adults, we headed south to Florida, looking forward to enjoying a more temperate climate. We did not start our home search with the design of a dual master bedroom plan in our vocabulary.
At the beginning of this early retirement adventure, we were looking for a home that would accommodate a multi-generational household. We had a single parent daughter who was struggling financially, so it seemed natural to combine households. By luck, a smart real estate agent, sized up our situation and began showing us dual master bedroom homes. His selling point was that this bedroom style offered more privacy to all and was a better fit for a multi-generational household. We are happy to report, that he was absolutely right about this advantage in purchasing a home with dual master bedrooms.
However, the real hidden advantage in this type of bedroom style, was found when we went to sell that house at a later date. In a rapidly deteriorating real estate market, living in a new subdivision that had been heavily invested in by foreign (mostly from the UK and Germany), who were abandoning their investments left and right - selling a dual master bedroom home meant, we not only got our money back out of the home, but also made a nice profit. This at a time, when houses in our development were sitting on the market unsold, and many are still unsold two years later. In other words, a dual master bedroom plan translates to a better financial choice and opportunity for re-sell.
So later on, when we moved to active adult community (although not age restricted), we naturally again chose to buy a dual bedroom. The advantages for all purchases of dual master bedroom homes are:
(1) The realities of a future illness or disability might necessitate separate bedrooms;
(2) Dual master bedrooms allows guests (children, grandchildren, and friends) some privacy when they visit;
(3) Dual master bedrooms allows for visits and the option of caring for parents and others, should that become a necessity;
(4) Dual master bedrooms allows for the possibility of extra rental income in the event of death of one of us, or hard economic times on a fixed income;
(5) Dual master bedrooms gives us an opportunity for extra income in renting our home out to other mature adults, when we are traveling out of the country for long periods of time;
(6) Dual master bedrooms increases the value of our home and the likelihood of a quicker sale, should we decide to put it on the market.
Dual master bedrooms are not only the hottest home building trend of the future, but of the here and now for the smart investor. It's a practical arrangement that works well for many reasons. Once you've bought a home with this type of modern bedroom design, you'll wonder why you didn't always choose this bedroom style for your home.
