Tempted to chase your significant other around with a rolling pin so you they'll help you around the house? Tempted to throw their clothes in the yard because they never quite make it to the hamper? Well without resorting to these slightly extreme measures try something a little less temper tantrum like.
If their problem is making things in the kitchen and they leave the mess behind to clean up there are a few things you can do. My particular favorite is to find a way to make it so they have to cook for about a week when they are cooking in the mess without cleaning, it gets a bit cumbersome since some things they need to use will inevitably be dirty. The key is to not clean up after them no matter what. Eat out if it gets too gross and it messes with your appetite.
The other thing you can try is to purchase a dish washing tub and put all their dirty dishes in the tub and leave it in their favorite area, if it happens to be the couch place the tub on the coffee table. If they fail to notice that they need to help out by cleaning up after themselves you may need to chase them around with that rolling pin after all.
If their problem is not putting their dirty clothes in the hamper put the clothes on their side of the bed, their favorite spot on the couch. If you put them outside put them in the car but becareful with this one make sure you have a note saying 'put me in the hamper' that way they won't think that you want them to leave. When the clothes are taking up their space instead of yours they will eventually realize they really are a hinderance and an eye sore.
The other thing you can try is to put your stuff out where it will get on their nerves try not to get into the habit though because once you start slacking off on the house chores it is really hard to get back into staying on top of things.
If they can't quite leave their work where it's supposed to be like the in-home office or at their actual office stack it or move stuff a little while they're not around it will drive them crazy because they will have to put everything back the way they had it to do their stuff.
If they tend to slack off about all of the things mentioned above try to only fix one thing at a time if you start doing everything at once they will resist and dig in their heels. Things may even get worse and the house will be horrible and lead to relationship problems instead of general irritation with the apperance of your place.
Of course before resorting to any of these things you should talk about your chores and who is expected to do what. Keep in mind that some people will do things wrong trying to get out of things so if it seems like they are doing something wrong be encouraging and direct them don't show them how to do stuff because you will get sucked into doing it because you do it so well. Good luck.
