Song reviews: Take You Down, by Chris Brown

It is really good to see that bubble gum rock hasn't completely lost its place in the American music culture. Take You Down by Chris Brown is a great example of songs from days gone by. This song could easily be mistaken for an old Back Street Boys song. It has the beat and lyrics that make young girls swoon and reminds older generations of songs from their youth that made them feel the same way.

This is a good song; however, I wouldn't deem it as great or different from other songs that have come before it. It's one of those songs that appears to have been recorded with the soul purpose of giving the artist a "nice" song that parents will approve of.

The singer, Chris Brown, has a good voice but again, it's not different and doesn't stand out among those that came before him. He sells the same kind of sex driven melodrama that every other recording artist offers. As I said in the beginning, this could easily be mistaken for a Backstreet Boys song. It would be nice to see something that is refreshingly new in the vocals as well as beat and lyrics.

Chris Brown is definitely not the next Elvis as some would say. Twenty years from now, the girls that listen to his songs and swoon will re-listen to them later and say to themselves, "What was I thinking?" They will know that he was a cute guy but will wonder what they thought was so great about him.

Please don't misunderstand. I did like this song. It is a song that you could cuddle up with your sweetheart with and get lost in a really great make out session. The voice of Chris Brown is definitely soothing and that's always a good things. The lyrics do have something to say instead of a lot of babble about this, that or the other thing. The beat of the music matches exactly the tone the artist wants to set in motion. These are all really great things.

In conclusion, it is a song that will melt the hearts of many a young girl. It will not, however, go down in the history books as one of the greatest songs ever written or recorded. It will melt into the back ground of a young girls heart for her to pull out every now and then. It's good for making memories that will last but you won't hear it playing at too many weddings as a first dance.

Chris needs to lose the Backstreet Boys image and get one of his own. He has a great deal of talent and could hit it even bigger if he found a new image that is all his own. This song is a 5 out of 10 possible star rating, 10 being the best. It is mediocre work from a very talented young man.
