Of course there is a privacy crisis in America, there's a privacy crisis in every corner of Earth. It's not laws or spying on phone lines or anything like that. Privacy doesn't exist because of technology.

Right now satelites are going up that can read your lips see through walls in your house with infrared. England has over two million outdoor cameras with face recognition technology running at all times. If you can see peoples homes clearly on google earth then there is no doubt that the governmetn has way better cameras watching over people right now.

On top everything else there is a small piece of technology in everyones pocket with a GPS signature that can be tracked to within 4 meters of it's position. Everything everyone does on the internet is recorded by servers and tracking cookies. Finacial records and phone records are kept on file by corporations for atleast two years and banks even sell personal information to the highest bidder unless told otherwise by their clients.

Computers that can think for themselves are constantly seen as the end of what people can do with technology, but the system has already given the power of information to computers. Every imaginable piece of information is currently being storred on massive hard drives that are easily accesible with databases.

It only seems fitting that people created there own privacy crisis since we are our own worst enemy, and have been since the beginning of man. As far as America is concerned then don't be worried about tapping phone lines because technology will find a way. If they can't tap the phones then super sensitive mics will be placed to record all sounds no matter how mute. There is no way to avoid the being part of this without moving to the hills without a computer, cell phone, television, or anything else that may record human interaction.

Big Brother has come to life in a way that Orwell didn't predict, actually no one predicted how far the extent of technology would creep into our lives. Pretty soon technology is going to be able to tell you what your going to do before you do it.
