Goodbye Mummy-My Angel.
Losing a mother to breast cancer.
The scent of Mummy close to me,
The tears she dries when I am scared,
She teaches me to bake and sow,
Loves me when no one else has cared.
Gently singing, soft, sweet tunes,
To chase my night time fears away,
Reads me stories endlessly,
Dances,laughs and helps me paint.
Builds daisy chains with muddy hands,
Holds my hand though every fear,
Builds castles on the soft, white sand,
Dries away my sorry tears.
But perfect love is stolen now,
Years before it's time,
Soul screaming, 'Mummy, don't leave me!'
Cancer; the monster that steals lives.
We were meant to grow old together,
But life decided different fate,
I'm screaming, begging God, 'hear me, PLEASE...
'Don't take my mummy away.'
Fear, horror, shock all running,
Through these juvenile veins,
Grief, sadness deepest loss,
Without her I won't be the same.
My spirit prepares for Mummy's passing,
I tell her how much I'll miss her,
As her arms open wide, stretching,
out to hond me one more time,
'Don't worry, don't cry, my darling'
'Be strong my angel, you'll be fine'
It's too much to bear, I'm only nine.
'I'll save a special place for you,
right next to me, when it's your time,
we'll be together, I promise. I love you,
always and forever that, remember that. Don't cry.
And Mummy exhales one more time,
Her hand becomes, limp; she's gone...
And she lets go of mine.
Another Mummy stolen away,
How many more must face this pain?
'I love you Mummy.' I whisper.
'One day we'll be together. Again.'
But now I face this life alone,
Counting the moments 'til I am old,
And God takes me into the sky,
So I can be at Mummy's side.
