The Aston Martin DBS is one of those vehicles which can be summed up with a quote from the movie "Mad Max," were they make reference to one of the characters in the film by saying: "His larger than life and twice as ugly!" Of course, beauty is hands down the Aston' DBS' forte-;surpassing most (if not all) things with four-wheels! If you happen to get one with reliability problems (maligned British electronics), you might be including the latter part of the quote from the film
In writing this article, I tried going into a very large Southern California Aston retailer to see if they had any DBS' available, but I found nothing! So I searched the country (USA) for used DBS, and found a 2008 model selling for $294,995 dollars. The DBS is Aston's top of the line automobile with the DB9 next in line; and finally the Vantage V8 which was recently praised by being referred to as "the poor man's Aston Martin." Although there's nothing plebian about the V8 Vantage's asking price of $120,000.
6.0-V12, with 510 horsepower; massive wheels; massive design, intense, massive; those are the only words that come to mind when speaking about this automobile! Its two competitors are the Maserati Grand Turismo, and the Ferrari 599 GTB; although you can add some Lambos and Porsches into the picture as well I'm sure: but none look like the Aston; the Ferrari has too much of "the sports car thing" going on to be taken seriously at times! Let's face it: if you are a VIP/president of a large company/corporation, and you want to take an important client out to lunch; the Aston would most likely make a better impression than even the Ferrari would; even though it's luxurious; it's also conservative as well: the cockpit is absolutely gorgeous as well. But whatever you want to say about the Aston DBS; one thing it's not is exaggerated; in fact it's one of the few sports cars that offers performance, luxury, and it can still be conservative at the same time: unlike Ferraris/lambos which have always had a "play-boy image" attached to them.
This car shares its platform with its two less expensive siblings: The Vantage V8, and the BD9. In the tradition of all great European automobiles they are all 'rear-wheel drive.' Due to it's massive power, it can achieve 0-60 in just 4 seconds; however massive strong brakes (larger than the Ferrari GTB) are needed to bring this puppy to a halt!
In spite of this car's looks, performance, reputation, etc; they are quite unreliable cars; so its best to have a few Honda's laying around (You can probably own "Honda" if you can afford a new DBS), since they have been known to break down, and give headaches to its owners from time to time. But let's face it: if you can afford one, there's practically nothing out there that looks like this automobile does.
