Crispy Green beans and all around better veggies!
(Your family will never refuse their veggies again!)
The thing most people don't realize when it comes to any vegetable, is that a little butter, salt & pepper will make your vegetables taste so unbelievably delicious! You will never feel the need to cover up their natural greatness, with fancy sauces or melted cheez whiz again! I promise that you will be very impressed with the flavor you will discover, by keeping things simple! Also preparing veggies this way is also the healthier way to go. Cream sauces & cheez whiz are high in fat, preservatives and other unhealthy things! With our fight to live & eat healthier
*When preparing any vegetables. Frozen or fresh,*NEVER COVER YOUR VEGGIES WITH WATER!*
Only add enough to boil and create steam. About an inch of water in your pot. Steaming veggies is much better than boiling them. Remember when you were young, and your mom or grandma would boil there veggies to death, then they sat for 10 minutes. By the time they got to your plate, they were mush. (No wonder it used to be so hard to get kids to eat their veggies, lol)
Directions:
Add a little salt and pepper.
Cover, let it boil for 5-8 minutes on high heat
(remember you want them to be bright green, not a washed out army green, lol)
Remove from heat
Drain left over water
Add 1 tsp margarine, and a bit more salt and pepper. (if you do not like to use butter or margarine in your recipes, try adding 1 tbsp of chicken or vegetable broth instead. This will add some great new flavors as well)
Let stand 5 minutes covered. Serve! So easy !
*This can be done with almost any veggie* Try Broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, baby corn. Just to name a few!
