Love the Caribbean, gorgeous beaches and people? Then Sosua in the Dominican Republic is for you.
This vacation hotspot is one of the finest and most popular beaches in the Caribbean. It seems to have a bit of something for everyone. It is conveniently located, so travel is not too difficult. From this area there are many excursions to partake in or it's very easy to venture off on your own as it's pleasantly located between Puerto Plata and the exquisite village Cabarete. Also, close by is the Damajagua mountain, whose descent features 27 cascades, this is a real tropical oasis. Motorcycles, minibuses and tour buses serve the area. Within the town, most destinations can be reached by foot. Generally, the entire area is well-lit and safe. The prices are reasonable and the town caters to people of all means.

The main attraction continues to be the town's one mile long beach. It draws in people from all over the world. With the whitest of white sand, the beaches fill up with sun worshippers and bathers galore. And the water is as refreshing as can be and very popular for snorkeling and scuba-diving. The reefs are a short distance from the shoreline and a breath-taking sight to behold. An underwater camera is ideal for capturing a shot of a flounder, parrot fish, grouper, porcupine or dozens of other creatures. Many other water activities are readily available, with rentals right there on the beach. Fishing is another popular thing to do, with small fishing boat excursions available or tourists can even take a trip on a glass bottom boat.
In Sosua there are plenty of dining establishments to choose from. With a diverse community of European and American Ex-patriots, the cuisine also reflects this International flavor. Souvenir shops and little boutiques line the area behind the beach, so you need not travel far for anything.
Accommodations differ greatly in Sousa, with everything from little bungalows for rent to big resort communities with luxurious amenities and everything in between. Also in Sousa is the Columbus Aguapark. This is the biggest water park in the Caribbean. One slide called the Kamikazee enables you to careen down at about 90 mph. This family friendly spot gets high marks in fun. Outback JEEP safaris are also available out of Sosua. They promise to show you the "real" Dominican Republic and bring out your adventurous and wild side.
With plenty to do and see in such close proximity, Sosua is the ideal place to vacation. It should be the starting point for your next holiday.
