What is justice? Where does justice originate? How is justice achieved?
I define Justice as the epitome of truth, and the exercise of fairness. This makes me ask myself redundantly, "what is ideal justice and what is common justice?" These are imperative questions as they address the absence of the law or the possibility that laws could be manipulated to serve the interest of a chosen few.
What do I mean? It is disheartening to admit that those who create laws are also the violators of their own justice. Many true accounts point that the jailed man is the unguilty one while the guilty man is free.
We all crave for fairness in our daily lives. From our home to our respective work organizations, the absence of justice could fuel our anger and make us question the system that we work for. Do not be surprised my friend, it could only mean that you have a heart of gold and your self-principles are understated. You are in fact correcting an injustice within your territory.
Politically speaking, justice is a complicated and mind-boggling word. In fact, it is usually defined with various tones by different groups of people. To define it in a deeper context, justice is more often than not absent in the four corners of the court rooms. In my lexicon, justice is beyond the legal procedure.
For I stand with the belief that TRUE JUSTICE starts and ends in ourselves.
A layman looks at justice in the context of a criminal who got caught by local authorities and get convicted for his crimes. Many people opined that "reclusion perpetua" or life imprisonment is the concrete application of justice against those who committed heinous crimes.
This perspective anchors on the fact that a criminal sentenced to life imprisonment gets the rightful "legal punishment," for it deprives him the chance to experience life's joy outside his prison cell. Some say that if a man is indeed bad, he will be bad at all times wherever he is. But a good man shall always rise above his mistakes and transforms himself for a better cause.
However, let us look at some existing realities wherein drug pushing still exist inside the prison walls, where uniformed men are paid to protect the laws of the state but on the contrary, this crime still prevail at the confines of institutions which are supposed to implement the full force of the law.
What kind of justice exist in this situation..or is there justice at all? How can justice be really achieved if there is so much injustice all around us?
That is why this writer accentuates on the fact that REAL JUSTICE SHOULD START AND END IN OURSELVES.
Mockery of justice is indeed a moro-moro of lip servicing..sugar-coating the concept of justice unblindfoldedly.
So what is justice, if I may ask? Is it an exclusive property of the powerful and moneyed ? Is it defined by those who have influence over the judiciary system? This is an excruciating fact but the truth remains, justice can be circumvent, manipulated, delayed and denied by those who could afford to do so.
I wonder why there are bad leaders who enjoy power by abusing and distorting the law for their advantage and they still remain untouchable? But those who are charged out of political reasons are facing justice at all times? Is there some kind of double standard justice here? Freedom for the powerful and oppressive for the powerless?
In my personal stance, I shall not deny the truth that this exists.
