Reflections: Who do you think is the most important person ever to live

The most admired, honoured and respected human being that ever lived is an opinion as varied as the people who would answer that question and the mood they happen to have been in when asked it. To me it is the latest newborn infant. They are the ones who hold the power over our world and its all inclusive societies. The respect and guidance given them by their mentors and their surroundings will be their guiding forces. Theirs is the future to shape as they will see fit.

Everyone, including deities, dignitaries and common folk, that have already lived, have limited power to influence and no power to achieve. A newborn child has unlimited potential for influence and achievement. Every prominent individual that has ever lived was once a newborn and by the tuition of their teachers and their environment they became who they were. Martin Luther King and Hitler were both, at one time newborns. Both made claims to lead their people to a new awakening. Martin Luther King's awakening is being realized more and more every day, though his life was cut short at its most prominent stage. Hitler's on the other hand, fades into oblivion as the insane ravings of a madman. Both, no doubt can be debated to the contrary by a selected few.

Every successive child born has the potential to become the equivalent of any who have gone before with respect to their contribution or detriment to society as we know it. Some will find a solution to the energy situation. Some may reverse global warming. Some, such as Albert Einstein will be associated with both contributing to and detracting from our views of civilization by envisioning theories to resolve catastrophes yet unimagined and destruction unimaginable. One, someday will be considered the second coming for those of the Christian faith. Others will be the Savoir for each respective faith. One may even initiate world peace.

We must never underestimate the importance of a newborn child, with respect to the influence he or she may have on our family, our community or our world. The purity and potential of newborn innocence is a path yet to be revealed. The next one is definitely the most We can only do our best to take from ourselves and those who have gone before and give to those newborns the knowledge to decide which path to take.

Is this next one yours or one that you may have a hand in guiding?
