This is a very personal choice, some women go white or lovely silver gray, and me I go a slate gray that looks absolutely awful. I never dyed my hair until my early forties as I didn't feel the need to, I was happy with my natural colour. Some women are frightened to age naturally, having gray hair is considered aging.
Women who go gray naturally are either very confident in themselves, or are not worried how they look, and to go gray is as natural as they have lived their lives. On the other hand there are a lot of women that enjoy a trip to the hairdresser to have their hair coloured and styled. The increased advertising by stars of screen and television reminding us that we are worth it' as the L'Oreal advert tells us, as they swirl luxurious locks of different colours, gleaming and shining on the screen, in the knowledge that women all over the world will be rushing to buy the product. As newer products come onto the market, more and more women and men turn to dying their hair, its not left to the older ones, young girls and lads are just as likely to dye their hair.
Media bolsters are need to look younger; we are shown on billboards, in magazines, and television advertising. I have often thought, that's it, I'm going to just let myself go gray' and then a remark from another person and I'm running for the dye bottle. I must admit I do not dye my hair every six weeks as the bottle tells me to, I generally leave it until my daughter tells me its time to dye it. I do however feel better in myself once its done, and also it gives me a boost.
To choose to go gray naturally is a choice that we make, and its not only women, its men as well that dye their hair. Women tend to hold on to their coloured locks longer than men. As we start the aging process, with the onset of wrinkles round the eyes, to add a little colour makes us feel brighter in ourselves. Some women and men find it hard to age, as the years slip by and they get older, an ageist depression sinks in, they start to go to the gym, visit the hairdressers on a regular basis, get the latest creams and cosmetics. Then there are women and men who age naturally, comfortable with their wrinkles and gray hair.
I would say if you want to dye your hair, then go for it, if it makes you happy then do it with confidence. If you want to go gray naturally then go forth with confidence because which way you choose its is your choice.
