Travel destinations: La Romana, Dominican Republic

So you're ready for the vacation of your dreams? Or are you on business? You've picked a few spots, it looks great in pictures, but you really want to know what it holds for you before you arrive to your beautiful destinations. What can you unlock about La Romana and the rest of the Dominican Republic to truly make your visit memorable. Let's take a deeper look into this majestic land and help you find what you're looking for.

No visit can possibly start without somewhere to stay and sleep. La Romana is a treasure trove of different living arrangements. Whether you are seeking an all-inclusive resort, or a more personal villa. If you are traveling with family, especially children, a resort or hotel may be best suited for you. Many of the hotels including Conoa Coral, owned by Hilton, has a wide range of activities suited for families. But maybe you want something a little more personal and a little less commercial. La Romana as well as much of the Dominican Republic has villas. I f you can bare a few bugs then a quick walk to a personal beach and your own small house may be your ticket. Most of the villas in the area are private owned, so online booking isn't as convenient. Mostly a phone call will do it for you, which numbers can be found online. Unfortunately some of the private owned villas have age restrictions. It's much like Florida in that unaccompanied teens and hardly any children are allowed. But if you're in mid thirties and up you should have no problem. Although there is nothing wrong with a good old fashion resort. All you can eat food, salt less swimming pools, and plenty of recreation makes the hotel pretty desirable for the family.

Once you're settled in maybe it's time to see the real surroundings of the gorgeous Dominican. Along with its culture, the land has a bountiful offer. Right in La Romana is an amazing market with everything from food to clothing. Jewelry and semi-precious stones are a big seller. But be ready to haggle because no one has a set price. You can just take in the mass of the market without buying a thing. Most of the merchants are simple and won't overly push their goods on you, but there are a few. Stick to your "no gracias" and keep trucking. And let's not forget the local cigar factory. You can literally watch your cigar be made, then enjoy it. Not including the resort, there are many clubs that host a wide range of activities, so boredom is never the answer.

Now if its culture you're interested in then surrounding La Romana is many small fishing towns. One of them is the village of Bayahibe. Its enchanting beaches and local eatery make it a perfect place to relax and stroll. The locals in the village are friendly and welcoming. This is also where a ferry leaves to get to the close by Saona island. There are many islands to the south but choosing one or many to travel to is based mostly on your idea of, "what's to wild for me." For a more clean nature time, La Romana offers plenty of wonderful parks. The central park has a showcase of tropical plants, clean walkways, tons of seating, and if your there at the right time, a drama or music entertainment plays. The center park is dog friendly, and child friendly.

There are defiantly many more great things about the surrounding area of La Romana as well as itself, but to truly experience it you have to get out there and do so. No one persons travel through the town will take it in the same. Everyone always has a story of their own about the area. Hopefully you will find one to. Don't forget to leave the resort beach because that's how you truly experience La Romana.
