Whether it is business or you are vacationing with the family, expect to pay much more on the trip. Transportation and traveling expenses have risen dramatically. It is more prudent than ever to learn how to save money on the trips to offset the extra cost. The devaluation of the dollar against foreign markets make traveling abroad to many places a more expensive proposition. The high cost of transportation fuels not only rise the cost of getting from point A to point B and back to A again, but it affects the cost of food, lodging, souvenirs, and amusements. Instead of traveling on business, try using video or teleconferencing to eliminate the traveling expenses. Unless the trip is critical to the business, you can have productive meetings via conference calls and effective long distance communications. You can incorporate cost saving measures through researching prices of air travel and lodging.

The best way to save on traveling is not to travel at all. Make your own vacation spot at home. Use the money you have set aside for vacationing and buy a pool. It does not have to be big or fancy, but an above ground pool can offer loads of fun for everyone in the family without going anywhere. Check out the local public pools to save even more money by buying a pool pass for everyone for the summer. Take fun courses at your local college, schools, or museums. Plan plays and fun days for the local kids and neighbors. GO to the local library for books to read on lazy summer days. Make use of the available resources to have fun.
Use any money you would save by not traveling to redecorate part of your house. Get the whole family involved in planning and
