This question and the debabate that would follow seems to be a real no-brainer. Our sovereign nation has borders. Non citizens should be aware that illegal crossing those borders is similar to an invasion. When we consider the sheer number of Illegals crossing our southern border it is mind-boggling.
The keyword here is illegal. We are a land of laws. They laws need to be enforced and obeyed. There is a vaible and legal way for immigrants to properly enter this country. If they do not qualify according to our embassies abroad, that should be it. Some countries have stricter guidelines to follow in obtaining visas, but there must be social and economical ramifications for not allowing any person who applies to be eligible.
Many nations, like Australia and New Zealand have began to strictly enforce rules such that a person without a college degree is not permitted into the country. This has become dangerous and a real hot button issue for many Americans. When we see violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants we get upset, when we see our jails filling up with people who shouldn't have been here to begin with, we see our tax dollars going down the drain, and when we see unemployment rise and factories hire illegals it seems to make an already bad situation appear out of control.

It creates disharmony between legal residents and citizens. Those who correctly and legally went through the process to obtain permanent residency may have a harder time of it. Restrictions may be increased. This would seem to make it harder for those that try to do things the right way. As our own economy is floundering, we can't take on the social and economical problems of our neighbors. Each country must do what is in their own interest. Handing out benefits left and right to people who have not respected and obeyed our laws is wrong. It sends out the signal that we are not serious about protecting our
