Survival
As the sun beats down,
In a desert dead,
A small green patch of grass perks its crown,
And to the sun lifts its weary head.
Small in stature, small in size,
A tiny green hint in a field of gray.
This patch of grass declines its demise,
And colors a 6 x 6 square for at least another day.
In a desert dry,
Where the dust blows and nothing seems to be alive,
A small patch does try,
And in all of us inspires the will to survive.
The vibrant green blades billow in the air
Like a flag of freedom, surrounded by gray dismality,
Announcing its remain and to the world declare,
That in the darkest of nights there can be the brightest reality.

His red coat glistened in the sun,
As swiftly he turned

In a world of long ago,
There's a place not to far from here,
Where the mountains reach the heavens high above,
And lush green
