I believe raising the minimum wage will be good for the economy. Anything that puts more money into the US eceonomy right now has to be good. Also we need to raise minimum wage to a point where people can survive on that income. A vast majority of our service industries and our food realted industries (resteraunt workers, grocery store employees) work for at or near minimum wage. These folks work hard and can not live on their full time income. This needs to change. It most certainly will take more than a mere seventy cents an hour, but that is a good place to start.

Certainly a 70 cents an hour raise will put a pinch on some smaller businesses. Small business that is already feeling the pinch from a poor performing economy. Possiably the governemet can offer some sort of incentive to these smaller busnesses? Some sort of help for a 6- 12 month period. I think a better alternative would be to schedule some regular raises til minimum wage reaches at least $10 per hour. Further, our government who will be the first to help people outside of the USA, should help the citizens here. There should be some forms of tax breaks or assistance for struggleing small businesses to implment these raises. For once let's help out the people here. And while we are at it how about keeping work in the USA? Make it harder for companies to fold up and go overseas. Impliment tarriffs on goods reimpoirted to make this move out of the USA financially not a good move. Offer incentives for made in the USA. Now is a time for change. Let's reopen our mills, our clothing factoires, our manufacturing plants. Let's go back to the point where it was a proud thing to be "MADE IN THE USA." It can be done, but governemtn has to work with industry and business, there needs to be incentives to make it happen and exoenses to anyone moving business out of the USA.

In the scope of things 70 cents is not a lot. On a 40 hour work week it is only $28.00. Not a great deal, not even dinner out for most folks. But for thoose of us working at or near minimum wage that is half a tank of gas, a few days groceries, a couple of boxes of diapers for the baby. This little boost in income might by the nature of all of the people it will effect, may give our economy a but of a boost. You know thoose working at minimum wage need that money for daily expenses so it will definately go back into the economy. This should hopefully also help the small businesses who are being hurt so
