Poetry: Relationships

by Jolene Belmain

I saw the key to my heart
just the other day,
I was walking down the street
and looked down to where it lay.

I wondered how
you could have lost it,
you must have accidentally
dropped it.

I picked it up
and started to walk,
thinking about
our little talk.

I stopped for a minute,
looked down at my key,
I suppose this now
belongs to me.

Instead of dwelling
and wondering why,
I held my key
and said goodbye.
