Poetry: Inner struggles

by Brittany Rose

Created on: July 24, 2008

The walls rise up around me
Glass that I can see through
A transparent reflection looks back at me
Eyes deep blue and true
The water rises beneath me
Panic begins to set in
The clouds roll over above me
Water now up to my chin

There is nothing for me to grasp
Nothing to hold on to
I'm dissolving, losing air
Thoughts spinning, what to do
I'm slipping under
Everything goes white
Feels like my head is going to explode
A quiet darkness not called night

Kicking and screaming
No one can hear my cries
They laugh and point their dirty fingers
I've fallen for false illusions and lies
A loss of faith
Has left me bitter and disturbed
Anger and rage glaze over my eyes
Thoughts leave me troubled and perturbed

My lungs begin to crack
The blood runs rapid and thick
Turning this water into a sea of red
A sight to make one sick
The water turns into a lake of fire
From the lightning up above
This is how you die inside
When you've lost all faith in love
