Woman of Color
Woman of color, raise your head
Woman of color listen .God said
Do not shed another tear, but
lay your head now on his shoulder
And don't cry for that one who is no more.
The dawn will break and fix your ache
You will be glad when tomorrow comes
When it will seem like you have awaken from a dream
And your future so bright with hope
And that one you trusted will mature
And will blossom into morning dew.
Woman of color can't you see me in the light
Showing you a future oh! So bright!
Open your eyes and direct your sight
Look to me, your guiding light.
Woman of color stand ten feet tall
Keep your feet steady and do not fall
Your father is waiting to heal that scar
That will be a memory yonder far.
Look at me, my child, I know you
Your name is among the ones I cherish
Just lean on me and I promise
That you will never ever perish.

IF WE COULD DO IT OVER
If we could do it over
start again anew
would your ring be on my finger
Would I still be loving you
