Poetry: Promises

One Day.(Before I die)

One day, before I die;
I will fly in a balloon above the world
And adopt a little orphan girl,
I will donate to the poor my very last penny
And give to them food when their stomachs are empty.
I will write about all of the woes in my life,
Sleep under the stars from some mountain high.
I will dance in the rain but remember the droughts
Dig wells for those who go without,
The life saving water I consider not each day,
I will hold hands with the sick and endeavour to pray
For those who will never know love as I do,
Or see a sun rise in a morning view.
I will consider what freedom really means
As I walk through a park or stand by a stream,
I will think of those who have borrowed time,
As they hold hands with lovers who live in denial.
I will appreciate all that I have in this world,
And stop wishing that I was some other girl,
I will be thankful for all of my memories
For those who have loved me; my family.
I will do all of these things, before I'm old and grey,
Before father time ebbs my life away.
I solemnly promise, I'll do it;
One day.
