Little Girl Lost -(For my lost cousin of just seven years old)

Captured within my mind,
Through twenty years or more,
The little girl who walks with me,
Yet, still, I miss her ever more.

She's always there but still she's lost,
I see her, hear her, touch her not,
Yet every passing day,
I wonder where she's gone.

I'm calling out her name,
But still, she hears me not,
Her spirit still cries out to me,

Her memory won't stop.

And every passing moment,
I love her all the same.
So silently I'm calling,
Calling out her name.

Like candles in the darkness,
Her face lights up my world,
Yet still I cannot find her,
My precious little girl.

I see her every morning,
As she smiles back at me,
But then I lose her one more time,
A distant memory.

I keep her ever breathing,
Her heart beats next to mine,
The precious girl I cannot find
Is with me all the time.

And still I cannot tell her,
How very much I care,
But when I close my eyes at night
She's always standing there.

I wonder if she's happy,
If time has made her smile,
I want to tell her, when she cries,
That I am by her side.

And in my dreams she's there,
I see her smile and laugh
Yet when I wake she's gone once more,
I cannot bring her back.

I hear her in the windows
And corners of my mind,
But then she's gone when I look back,
The little girl, I try to find.

Her laughter echoes out,
Through every passing year,
And though she's far away,
She still remains so near.

I'll always love her from afar
And miss her so each day,
But time will bring her back to me,
Of this, I always pray.

Til then, I must continue
To love her memory
Until I find that little girl;
The one completes me.
