Looking back at years past can only get you so far though, I'm sure the dominant power were not sure who would dethrone them. Every time it is different and can not be summed into one or two sentences it relies on many factors. It relies on when the United States will become to powerful and eventually fall, we may fall from the war in Iraq, or hopefully, we make it threw that and we may crumble a hundred years from now. Its all about building up momentum in that number two position. In this day and age it will not be the terrorists who will take over, even if they are the ones who eventually lead to the downfall of the United States. It will be whoever is second in command at the time of the fall, which is all about momentum, The united States has its position secured at the top but everything below it is far game right now.
Also it relies on the fact that America will go under at all, in history every country that is at the top never stays at the top for ever, but the United States has had some shaky parts in its pasts like the depression. But we have managed to overcome big problems that would but many other countries in ruins. So be more optimistic and maybe America will be able to lead the world until it all ends.
No one can be sure right now who will rise to power, maybe North Korea will nuke China, and China will nuke North Korea, and they both take mass loss of lives that will surely set them back hundreds of years. You honestly can't predict the future, because nobody knows the future.
I would like to have some fun and make my own guess though, i would hope that the Canadians will be in charge in 100 years. The Canadians do not fight wars, they have a steady economy yet they are not power hungry. Thats how the entire world should be soon, they should be peaceful, with good money and not wanting anymore than they get.
If all of that happens then there is no need to make a post that says "When will The world End?"
