Eating for perfect health does not have to be a hard concept to grasp. You do not by any means have to be a size zero as some of the hollywood stars claim to be. I'll bet they are not even that small. What does eating for perfect health mean anyways? What is perfect when it comes to health? I don't think that there is really a perfect health guideline for everyone in which is the same because we are all not the same. We are all made diffrently and require diffrent things. Some of us may have diabetes, some may have high blood pressure and some of us may be pregnant and need that extra boost for the baby.
I have learned a few general guidelines as far as food goes for what I consider to be general healthy eating not necessarily perfect health. For starters keep the food simple. If you are going to eat meat then make sure it that the piece of meat you are eating is no bigger then your fist. That is a portion size. Then load up on vegtables but make sure if you are going to eat something like cabbage or any high fiber vegtable then make sure to be careful in your consumption as they cause more gas and bloating and may find yourself in the bathroom longer then you want to be.
One general rule of thumb the darker the greens the more health benefits they will produce. If you are looking for a lean meat to eat chicken and turkey are two of the leaner meats. There are cuts of red meat that some say have added health benefits but don't go overboard on the read meats. One of the healthiest meats you can find is salmon. Salmon is packed with a flaky texture and don't forget the healthy omega three's that are in them too. A three ounce portion is a general rule when it comes to eating fish. Now what do you pair with your meat? Steamed broccoli is a nice choice. Green vegtables are always good but try sweet potatos or cooked carrots for added vitimin A and sweetness they offer. You can always try rice but try and avoid the white stuff because although it's tasty, it is not as good for you as brown which is usually whole grain.
When it comes to pasta again like the rice try and avoid the white stuff and go for brown or whole grain pasta. More health benefits are in the brown. Now they are putting white pasta on the market today which states it has calcium and good stuff in it for you and that's all well and good but brown rice is so much healthier for you due to the whole grain and whole wheat of it. Just apply that same concept to bread and your all set!
If you try and eat healthy just remember to watch your portion sizes. They have portion sizes on each package or on a lable for a reason. The reason americans are overweight in this day and age is because we do not watch our portion sizes. We think that a portion size is whatever is served to us. We do have the will power to stop eating we just don't because it tastes good or we make the excuse that we can't. The problem is we can. If we just make it a priority to do it. Eating for perfect health means watching portion sizes, what it is we are eating, and having a workout to complement that perfect healthy eating.
