Uses of potable water

Water and Its Uses

Water, our most used liquid. We use hundreds of gallons of water per day. What would we do without water? Hardly anything we can do today. Our lives are much easier with potable water(or water that can be used by humans). We depend on water for so many things . So just what do we do with our H2O? Look around. Its uses are not hard to find:

- Who doesn't love food? I know I do. We use water to make almost everything. We use water to boil the hotdogs, eggs, spaghetti noodles, and lots more. We use warm water to sometimes thaw our frozen meat. And what keeps that meat cold? Frozen water.

- Water is also a refreshing drink. On a hot summer day or after a long jog a nice ice cold glass of water is just what you need. It keeps you cool and quenches your thirst.

- I hope you all take a shower. No one likes to stink. We use about 700,000 gallons of water a lifetime on just showers or baths. Also, we use water to wash our hands a lot: after we use the bathroom, before we eat, when we get them dirty, and who knows what all else. Water is even used to brush our teeth. Every time you flush your toilet you are still using water. A lot of water passes through the pipes of one single bathroom.

- We also need to clean our clothes.. We can't wash them in dirty, contaminated water. The washing machine uses gallons of water to lift the dirt off our clothing. Even if you wash your clothes by hand you are still using water.

- We can't forget all our decorations. We have to water our plants. We also use water to keep our lawns green and lush.

- Who doesnt love to have fun with water on a hot summer day? . One of the kids favorites is to swim in a pool filled with cold water so they can beat the heat. They may also like to run in the water sprinkler. One of my personal favorites is a water fight. I love to fill up a water gun and have a water war with my friends. We have fun, get to cool down in the heat, and get soaked.

- We also freeze water so we can have ice. Ice helps to keep our foods from spoiling. It can also be used to keep our drinks colder for a longer period of time. Ice is also helpful when you are going on a long trip. We use ice to put into a cooler to keep drinks and other things cold. Frozen water allows us to have a portable refrigerator.

Water is a miracle for us. We use it everyday. There is so much water can do. Our lives are so much easier thanks to potable water.
