Wait

He holds her in his arms
as close as close can be
and he asks
if it's going to be okay

She holds back for fear
has taken over her heart
her body may be close
and it wants to give in
to remember his love again

all her mind can think
"how can such loving arms,
do such hurtful things?"

she gave him her everything
he wanted to take it away
he regrets his actions
each and every day

but still she holds back
she loved him before
she can love him again,
right?

only time will tell
but time may be short
then it may be too late

she just doesn't know
what she should do
to trust him again
or to hold back and wait

guarding her heart
yet again
after a year of release
will it ever be the same again?
