I never paid much attention to Vote for the worst. Of course I knew it existed, I stumbled upon it around the time Sanjaya stumbled through to the top 10. I searched the internet for a reason for his success, there had to be a reasonable reason for him to have continued on there was no way he had the talent to make it to the Top 10. So I needed to find a reason and I did. I found a reason and I was right, it had nothing to do with his talent, of which he had none.

Vote for the worst had to be the reason and I couldn't be happier. At least America's taste in music wasn't quite as bad as I had been led to believe with the progression of Sanjaya. There had to be plenty of those jokers who truly enjoyed messing with the heads of those idols. I found this idea to be simply hilarious.

The idea of Sanjaya actually believing that he had any talent whatsoever was the funniest thing I had seen on television in ages. This was just great. While I live in Canada and can not vote on the American Idol contestants, not that I would vote anyway, I was hoping for Sanjaya to progress and perhaps even win Idol. Unfortunately, he didn't win. But I'm watching Canadian Idol and was wondering just what was going to happen. Now I know.

Vote for the worst is having its nefarious hand in the voting on Canadian Idol. You've got to love it! It has got to be good for the Idol shows as well, both American and Canadian. The fact that someone is voting for anyone and for any reason whatsoever is good for the shows because the more eyes on the show means higher ad revenues.
Keep in mind that the Idol shows are about nothing more ad revenues.

You can kid yourself that the Idol shows are about talent but they, like everything else on TV, are about finding ways to charge advertisers as much money as possible. The fact that they might happen to find a star is only secondary. It is likely that without Vote for the worst many people just wouldn't enjoy American or Canadian Idol. Sometimes folks want something to chuckle about and Idol can provide that.

Vote for the worst has given me new reason to watch the Idol shows. There are many times when I just can not for the life of me understand why the so-called judges have advanced some of the people they have. So I get to see what Vote is doing and laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.

Yes, the website is good for American Idol because it keeps some eyeballs on the show and that, in the end, is what Idol is about. Eyes, as I mentioned, mean ad revenue and talent is a distant second to that.
