Clay: I was very surprised to see that I could make more money mining Clay than Iron, Coal and even Adamantite! Of course, that few thousand extra gp per hour comes at the expense of experience. Clay only requires level 1 mining so everyone in the game can mine it, but there isn't much competition for it. With a high mining level you can mine Clay extremely fast, and the fact that Clay sells for 100 gp per ore, and is in relatively high demand for people looking to level crafting means Clay is a great money maker. I averaged mining 634 ores per hour, gaining 3,170 experience per hour, and selling the ore at 100 gp per ore I made 63,400 gp per hour. I mined at the Varrock West mine.

Gold Ore: Gold is probably the second most sought after ore after Runite. There is a lot of competition for this ore. Again, like silver, if you can't access the Crafting Guild then don't bother mining Gold. If you have a high mining level (70+) and need some quick money then go to the crafting guild and mine away. I averaged mining 173 ores per hour, gaining 11,245 experience per hour, and selling the ore at 510 gp per ore I made 88,230 gp per hour. I mined at the Crafting Guild.

Runite Ore: The most sought after ore in the game. Runite requires level 85 mining and takes a whopping 12 minutes and 30 seconds to respawn on a full server. Again, the best way to mine Runite is to world hop. Personally, I'm only level 79 mining so I never conducted this experiment, but instead I asked my friend to do it for me. He averaged mining 30 ores per hour, gaining 3,750 experience per hour, and selling the ore at 11,700 gp per ore he made 351,000 gp per hour. He mined at the Runite Wilderness mine.

The Best Experience Ores in f2p (lowest to highest):

Coal: I averaged mining 370 ores per hour, gaining 18,500 experience per hour. I mined at the Lumbridge West mine and the Mining Guild.

Tin & Copper Ore: I averaged mining 1,128 ores per hour, gaining 19,740 experience per hour. I mined at the Varrock East & West mines. You can master getting the ore on the first scratch at level 41.

Iron Ore: I averaged mining 1,047 ores per hour, gaining 36,645 experience per hour. I mined at the Rimmington mine. I mined 3 rocks. You can master getting the ore on the first scratch at level 60.
