I remember the first time I wrote a short story. I was eight years old and staying with my grandmother at the time. With them being older then me, they wasn't much fun. I got bored with nothing to do. So, I went into the the guest bedroom and saw this world globe.
Thats when I got this idea for the short story. So, I got out a pen and some paper. I wrote about five pages of a story about a huge ship that sailed all over the ocean to different parts of the world and it got into a lot of trouble along the way. The funny part of the story is that I didn't put any people on the ship. The ship had a mind of his own and was tried of sitting in the harbor all alone and with nothing to do, so it went out to have an adventure.
So, it sailed out to explore the world. The ship ran into a lot of interesting other ships and other interesting people of the world. It got into a bad storm, and the ship had to fight for hours. For the waves and the wind was tossing it around. It finally got shipped wrecked on a island, which it stayed the rest of its life. For the ship thought the island would be a lot better place then the old boring dock back home.
I had so much fun writing it, it got me started wanting to write more. When I got into high school, my tenth grade English teacher did a week on writing poetry. I enjoyed it so much that I got started into writing poems.
Later, I found out that my English teacher was telling about my poems to one of my other favorite teachers. My English teacher was also letting her read them. So, with two of my high school teachers liking my poems, I really started writing a lot of poems for fun. Now, I have poems on the poetry.com under my married and maiden names.
I write all the time now about everything. I know I'm to old but I still keep a journal . I like to write down my feelings, like when I'm sad, depressed, angry or even if I'm only happy about something. I write about the good things and the bad things, that happen to me every day.
Why I like to write, is because its fun. It's a good way for me to express myself. I know I'm not a perfect writer, but it doesn't bother me. I just like having fun with my writing. Right, now I have so many stories floating around in my head, I wonder if I will ever get them all down on paper. The stories that are floating around in my head comes to me in the middle of night and it make me get up to write the ideas down so I don't forget them in the morning.
Why do I like to write, because writing brings me joy. Plus, writing is a lot of fun. I write when I sad or upset about something and I give me a boost that I can over come anything, that I set my mind to. Those are my reasons that I like to write and I will keep on writing until I can't write no more, which I hope doesn't happen for a very long time.
I guess in a way I should thank my grandmother for helping me start writing stories since she is the one that gave me the idea since I was bored, and for reading it for me and liking it. Plus, I should be thanking my high school teachers for helping getting started on writing poems, if it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't have even thought about writing poems. I also like thank my family for liking some of my stories and poems. My family are the best, they don't hide it if they don't like it. They will tell it to my face on how they like it or not.
