way to save money on accommodation is to travel by night. Take a night flight or a night travel and sleep on board. Not only does it save you a night's accommodation, it saves you time as well and as soon as you land you can start exploring the destination already without having to fuss about during daylight.
3. Save money on getting around
Many travelers make the mistake of getting a taxi everywhere because they feel unfamiliar with their destination and are afraid to use public transport. Will, time to do some research as this can save you a lot of money when travelling. Taxis are notorious about charging foreigners excessive amounts of dollars because they know they can get away with it. Before you know it, you have handed your entire wallet's contents to the last cab driver who has just made enough to go home early. Try public transport in places where taxis are likely to be expensive. Ask around on how to get from A to B and not only does it save you money, it also gives you a local experience you'll not otherwise experience being a typical taxi tourist!
Another form of saving money is to walk. It cost absolutely nothing! And walking is the best way to explore a city, to find out all the hidden treasures and small little restaurants that guidebooks don't tell you about. Not to mention you can stop anytime anywhere when you find the perfect photo opportunity. You'll get fit as well!
4. Save money on food
Being tourists we often head to the most well known and established restaurants in town simply because we don't know where else to go. And very likely, because all the tourists know about this restaurant, it's going to be expensive. However you don't have to pay that price! Speak to the locals and ask where are similar restaurants you can go to. Some of them will be a little out of the tourist track but that's just another adventure on your travels! Eating in places outside the touristy areas can sometimes save you a lot of money, and give you a chance to mingle with the locals and make some new friends. Another way to save money is to buy food from the supermarkets. We don't always have to eat the local specialties, and often a nice bread roll and some cheese from the shops makes just as good a breakfast as any $20 meal you can get outside. If you are staying in a hostel or at someone's house, you can even use their kitchen and cook your own hot meals for lunch and dinner. You'll be surprised how much you really can save on food!
