In all honesty and fairness to the pit-bull I do not feel that they are either best friend or murderous beast. However I do feel that they are a dangerous breed, but in no means do I feel they should be eradicated. I have owned several pit bulls most of them were elderly dogs that I had rescued from neglectful owners. A few of these elderly dogs had some serious health issues from diet and being fed steroids to make them larger than nature intended. Those dogs had heart conditions that ultimately took their lives. One of those, that till this day remains in my heart was Bud. He wasn't your typical pit, He was 8 years old and totally stole my heart. There was not one bit of aggression in Bud I think he was confused on his breed. I really believe he thought he was a chihuahua. All he ever wanted to do was lay in your lap and be loved and give love. He was that way to all people and other animals, unfortunately I wasn't blessed to have him long, he passed away 8 months after coming into my home from heart failure (because of the steroids he was given by his previous owner). Bud was the exception to the aggressive nature of pit bulls, and there are pit bulls like him, but not many and there is no way of determining which are and which aren't. Then there was Sheba, raised by myself, and my husband at the time. The dog was suppose to be his but she bonded with me. Although she never viciously attacked my husband there were times she nipped him, growled to warn him, and once had him so afraid she put him on top of the car, and she was on a chain. I had to go get her. Sheba could be aggressive, and if she didn't like you it was best to leave her alone, she would bite, but not viciously attack to do serious injury, but she would leave a bruise. Over time her aggression grew, and showed itself when she attacked one of our other dogs for no apparent reason, and they were raised together. (The other dog was not a pit) Fortunately the other dog was not injured other than being terrified. We prevented this from happening again by keeping them separated unless in our presence.
Before Bud had passed away, to my horror, he had gotten Sheba pregnant (the puppies were about 8 weeks old when he passed away). I do refer to the birth of her puppies as a horror now, but at the time I did not. Two of the male pups were already showing signs of aggressiveness at only 4 days old. By the time these two were six weeks old they hag already been in numerous fights with each other, had been
