Why do so many people believe in catastrophic global warming?

by Linda Sunkle-Pierucki

Created on: July 23, 2008

The reason so many people believe in catastrophic global warming is because propaganda, carefully contrived and supported by enough powerful people, works! False information is endlessly repeated without grounding facts. Videos and movies are produced at great expense to further burn the false picture into susceptible minds. Any lie, repeated enough, becomes seemingly the truth.

There is no doubt there IS climate change. In fact, given mankind's lack of concrete scientific evidence of past climate pattern, we have no idea to what extent the climate naturally fluctuates. One thing that IS clear is that powerful global forces are playing this cycle for all it's worth-and the real loss is to our freedom.

This is not a new concept-climate change as a "change agent" first surfaced in the early 1970's. Then, however, it was "nuclear winter" the Chicken-Littles were running around cheeping about. Unfortunately, extremism seems to attach itself to the ecology movement like aphids to a rosebush. For those of you too young to remember this, Nuclear Winter was going to be caused by energy production switching to nuclear power. Enough propaganda was put out to create a public sentiment less than favorable to nuclear power-and several well-funded lobbying groups greased enough of Congress with the usual oil that moratoriums were enacted preventing any more reactors being built. They also stopped oil refineries from being built, thus giving the oil companies increased profits with less work. When nuclear winter didn't appear, the activists patted themselves on the back and declared they had solved the world's weather problems! Somehow, the secret never got out. . .the doom-sayers and activist groups-and the lobbyists- were heavily funded by the big oil complex.

Of course, some good came out of this false ecological terrorism; the developed world became serious about clean air, clean water and became better stewards of the earth. I wont bore you with the "Gore-y" details, but the entire global climate change panic accompanied a severe "shortage" of oil. Only later did it come out that tankers of oil were held off-shore to escalate the panic-and drove prices up considerably. Lots of profits were made and the price of oil never returned to its previous low level. The populace also got the opportunity to expend a large portion of their tax dollars on clean-ups, property limitations and loss of rights. That never ended, either.

One of the results of that early climate panic was that
