Climate Change

Why do so many people believe in catastrophic global warming?

I used to openly declare my belief that the world is undergoing an increase in average temperatures, i.e.; global warming, however my argument was the cause being carbon emissions was not proven at best, a complete hoax at worse. Given the fact this planet has cycled between ice age to warm age and verifiable proof exist telling us the earth today is not even close to the hottest it has been in climate history I am yet to see, read or hear exactly how even the last ice age receded some 10 000 years ago. It certainly was not because of human carbon emissions yet the silence on this point is quite a curiosity.

To draw any conclusions based on human activity since the industrial revolution is only theory and not supported by millions of years of fact. I found myself being branded as a denier' by those who seem to swallow up whatever the majority throw at them. The purpose in this was to ensure debate was hijacked at all times by scientists, governments and statutory authorities adhering to the prevailing belief of catastrophic global warming however a growing body of evidence now suggests the world has cooled by 0.7 of a degree Celsius since 2001 and has returned to average temperatures of the early 1980's.

Mob rule has always been a problem throughout recorded history and not too many hundred years ago dissenters who dared question prevailing belief were exiled or even put to death. Take for example Galilee Galileo who was found guilty of heresy for adhering to Copernican theory that the earth revolved around the sun. Galileo was condemned in 1632 and sent into exile for going against prevailing belief of the times.

In many ways today things have not changed because dissenting scientists seem to find themselves exiled by way of mob mentality ridiculing their findings, research funding is cut off and publishing their work becomes very difficult. This is one of the reasons climate change debate is so badly skewed toward the position of global warming gag dissenters and ridicule any that dare question prevailing belief and you have mob rule prevailing.

Al Gore and his Hollywood production "An Inconvenient Truth" was adequately supported by scientific proof yet this film is hailed as one of the most important educational tools with which to indoctrinate children. The opposite of this was a film entitled "The Great Global Warming Swindle" and this was reviled by a liberal press who it seems have so irreversibly locked themselves into a fixed position they dare not consider any alternative. Special effects, dramatic graphics and extreme outcomes used in the Al Gore production have entrapped legions of global warming adherents that now find themselves unable to consider facts that don't fit their belief.

Perhaps the worse offenders are governments unwilling to publicly declare their doubt. This was demonstrated many times over in the recent Federal Elections in Australia where one slip-up on the global warming platform was a risk of being lampooned and literally howled down by a baying mob of press, self-righteous politicians desperately trying to out-do each other with their superior green credentials' in other words there was no debate, it was a foregone conclusion that nobody dared argue against.

Faced with these powerful elements there can be little wonder so many people genuinely believe in catastrophic global warming. Until or unless evidence to the contrary is compelling enough it seems the entire planet is gripped by this paranoia, and facts to the contrary will be ruthlessly suppressed to justify irresponsible policy and education of our young.
