Product reviews: Starbucks Almond Syrup

It is impossible to review Starbucks Almond Syrup. I went to my local Starbucks to try this syrup so I could write a review for this article. Imagine my surprise when I got there only to find out that they didn't have any. Silly me just thought that this store was out of it and since there is another store not too far from me I decided I would go there instead.

When I got to the second store and found out that they didn't have it either I said to the barista that it was strange that both stores that I had been to that were out of it. That is when I found out that they weren't simply out of it, but that they no longer sold it at all. I told her that it surprised me since I thought it must be a popular choice since I was trying to do a review on it for a writing site that was asking for reviews specifically on Starbucks Almond Syrup.

I did try a venti Americano with a double shot of Starbucks Hazelnut Syrup. It was quite good, but I know that comparing hazelnut and almonds would be like comparing apples to oranges. Both are good in their own right but not comparable to each other.

When I got home I did a search on the internet to see if I could find anywhere that may still have some of the Starbucks Almond Syrup so I could try it and do a real review on it. Unfortunately the only place I could find it was on eBay and at $17.95 a bottle plus $14 shipping and handling it was not at a price that I was willing to pay. Now, maybe if I had been a loyal customer of it before they stopped selling it then that price would be worth it to me. However, I was not willing to pay that for something that I had never tried before.

I did manage to discover that there was another almond syrup out there that was supposed to be the same exact syrup that Starbucks was selling. It is called Torani Orgeat Syrup. Now, I don't know if it is true that it is the same syrup or not because one site said it was and another said that this syrup had an orange flavor to it (and from what I could understand the Starbucks syrup didn't).

The price of the Torani Orgeat Syrup was in the range of what I was willing to pay so I decided to get some. I tried it in my morning coffee and while it didn't overpower my coffee I was trying to figure out what all the hoopla was about. I will say that I did not notice any orange flavor to it. I do think I liked the hazelnut better, but since I spent so much time just attempting to try the almond I probably built it up in my mind to be something outstanding.
