Of course corruption is inevitable. But to say it's due to the wealthy only is inconceivable. To say it's due to the mindless illogical arguments of the working class is incorrect. Corruption unfortunately is a natural occurrence in human nature, and like all things is necessary for progression.
One reason why is without corruption, the idea of change, of standing up to make a difference would be non-existent, and if everything went smoothly, if politicians didn't lie then why would we attempt to change anything in this world? If the royal family and their advisers weren't corrupt the concept of American would not have even crossed their minds, at the very least, at that time.
Without corruption, neocracy's wouldn't occur in international governments. Religion would not have traveled in many cultures, and change would cease to exist. And eventually we would all end up like the Eloi and Morlocks from H.G. Wells, "The Time Machine."
Now on the issue of politicians not being spineless, that is a falsity in and of its own. Of course politicians are spineless. However it is in a different form than what is expected of being spineless. Politicians simply state what the people (who they want to vote for them) want to hear. Grand statements of ending the war, liberation, tax cuts, restoring values, etc.etc... are merely hallow promises to make the people (citizens) feel appreciated and important when it is simply a game that so many except as fact.
For example, during the 1968 Presidential Campaign Nixon won by promising to restore, "law and order," Which he neither did nor attempted, because if he had the Vietnam war would not have continued for another 7 years (on a side note: he promised that peace was at hand during the '72 election which did not occur for another 3 years.) Oh and by the way, does breaking into the Watergate Hotel, qualify as law and order or merely taking advantage of powers given for own personal gain (which occurred just months before being re-elected into office)? That's a tough question in and of itself.
And to say that the media is mocking us; well what do you expect? This country has become one giant corporation. The media is a business, so how is it surprising that they would feed us information on panda's and the most recent Hollywood scandal, or the biggest of all debates: Will Brad and Angelina break up? It's a business, which in tales that they would and will give the American citizens what they want. And what do the citizens want?
