Because, Georgia is in the orbit of DC while serbia is backed by moscow.
Abkhazian people with rest of Northwest Caucasians lived the worst events of european history.
after 150 years of struggle with Russians, they had to give up. Most of them left their lands for their lives. this happened 150 years ago. but anyhow till 1926 abhkazia was inhabitted by mostly ethnic northwest Caucasians, till Stalin(A georgian) came to power. first took SSR status of abkhazia then settled many georgians to the region. Abkhazian language was banned, culture is oppressed, their identity was almost lost. till the end of cold war.
georgian dictator Shevardnadze, ordered the army to enter Sokhumi, and let the military open fire on protesting students in university campus. this started struggles and thanks to historical North Caucasus alliance many fighters from egypt to checehnia traveled to abkhazia to fight against Georgian tyranny and without no religious aspects, even shamil basaev were fighting on abkhazian side (Later will be a devouted jihadist).
After ceasefire Georgians tried to avenge their loss several times but were driven back by either abkhaz army or russian peace keepers.
From USA point Georgia is an ally which can do whatever it wants in its country, no matter human rights(remember 2007 elections). And no matter that Abkhazia has a working democracy for 15 years with all necessary institutions. All they care is to satisfy the Tblisi dictator so that their alliance is strong. Soon NATO membership will be negotiated for Georgia which will kill hopes for near future.
nothing more to say about kosovo, it is demographics is not same as abkhazia, and serbia is more a country than georgia.
I am ashamed to be citizen of Turkey, in the same sense, just to oppose Russia, Turkey along with other NATO members support illegal embargo against people of abkhazia, Ankara forgets that majority of North west caucasians are living in Turkey, serving for military die fighting against terror in south east. Also forgets what happened after 150 years of legendary defense, after abkhazia fell to czar, russian armies were hardly stopped in Erzurum , then largest city of eastern Anatolia. And as usual in their foreign affairs betray all those people who gave their lives for the lands they never saw.Human rights abuses against Caucasians of Turkey, seems like Kurds are more important for them.
