Poetry: Fairy tales

Fairy Tale

When I hear a fairy tale
(I'll make a frank confession)
I know they're written by grown ups
'cos' they always teach a lesson

We all know Red Riding Hood
that sweet and innocent kiddie
who set out to be good and kind
to a wrinkled bed-ridden biddy

and if we need a building guide
there are piggies (three)

who tell us how to live in peace
by building carefully

I have to mention those poor trolls
who try to stock the fridge
charging just a tiny toll
to cross a crumby bridge

I won't go on
they're all so sweet
parents love them , they're so cute
but they're nor really, let's get real
real kids are more astute

Pity then the wolves and trolls
living round about
who come across a loathsome child
and try to engage the lout

These naughty children twist things round
they tell a pretty tale
they lead the poor old wolf astray
then act all meek and frail

Don't believe the wolf is bad
(he should sack his PR man)
he's deeply into poetry
and an avid Greenpeace fan
How would YOU like to be accused
of eating children, on the news
of being public enemy number one
being constantly on the run

It's the kid's who need to be restrained
and kept safely in a cell
the animals deserve to live in peace
I'm sure they'll do quite well
