The Ache of A Star
Have you ever wished upon a star?
"Star light, Star bright
The first star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the wish I wish tonight"
I hate to be the bearer of bad news
But stars were not created
To fulfill wishes
They too look for a place to shine
Amid the darkness
They too have jagged edges
Positioned pointless
Despite their splendor
They too look for space
To compete in the black sky
With that big old moon
And its looming brightness
They too sometimes hide
From the world draped in black
They too have their own worries
Am I bright enough?
Close enough to be noticed?
They too dream of being spectacular
To the eye of the beholder
If stars could talk
They would reveal
That they too wish upon themselves
For they also carry the burden
Of holding themselves up
