What happened to initiation ceremonies for young girls when they first start their menstruation and are coming of age? What happened to the old wise grandmother that offers advice and is comfortable with her wrinkles and gray hair?
In this day and age we seem to be stuck in this age time-warp. Every being on this Earth for the most part, wants to be either much older, or much younger than what they truly are. The media portrays the ideal woman as a sultry, young twenty-something whore. There is nothing wrong with sex, but it is much over-used in the media and is hardly appropriate for the eight and ten year old kids who have access to any show they choose to turn to. I know there is such a thing as parental controls, but they hardly block out everything they should. Teenage and pre-teen television shows are teaching kids how to become sexy and hook a mate, but in more subtle ways. They don't use the word sex, or show sex, but they do teach kids how to dress in a provocative way and how to use body posture and tone of voice to convey sex.

Parents have little time, or energy to raise their kids these days and so they let the television do all the work. This in turn causes the children to model what they see on TV, rather than their own parents.
My boyfriends ten year old niece acts like a 15 year old in the tone of voice and expressions that she uses, yet she still whines like a 3 year old toddler and doesn't have the capability to take care of herself. She is unfortunately not fully potty-trained, and can't clean herself properly. Her parents seem to think that this is completely normal. It seems to be as all of her friends are acting much older as well.
I blame the sex-crazed media. Everything that is on TV for "kids" is just the beginnings of instructions on how to start the mating rituals that we see everyday. It is a constant progression of sex, sex, and more sex. It is not just kids that are being taught how to dress in slutty clothing and what to say to attract the opposite sex. It is everyone in the mainstream culture of our society.
Middle-aged women try to act like they are still in their twenties with the way they dress, dye their hair, get face lifts, etc. Nothing is real anymore. I see women walking down the street and for the life of me I can't tell how old they are! It could be a fifteen year old girl pretending to be twenty, or it could be a forty year old "woman" with dyed hair and lots of facelifts pretending to be twenty. When did twenty become
