Downloadable game review: Hell's Kitchen by Ludia

Gordon Ramsey is back in this game remake of the reality show, Hell's Kitchen. In this unoriginal game, you are the chef. Seat customers, take their orders, cook their food, serve it and clean-up all while Gordon Ramsey watches. With this game so similar to others, the only thing that stands out is Gordon Ramsey.

Game play is easy and quickly picked up. Click on the lighted boxes to seat the customers, take their orders, and clean the tables. When an order comes in, switch to the kitchen and click on the bowls to prepare the food. Try to get the timers as close together as possible, then pick up the pots and put them on the serving area. Return to the dining room and serve the food. Wait until their done and clean-up. The faster it is done, the happier Gordon Ramsey is. After a few rounds of this, it becomes repetitive and very tedious.

The graphics are remarkable as Gordon Ramsay is portrayed in all of his grandeur. The kitchen and the food are highly detailed. The pictures of the food generated by the recipes is very appealing. The dining room, however falls flat as the customers and even the waiters have very generic detailing. They spent so much time making Gordon Ramsey look good, that the dining room and game play appeared as afterthoughts.

The voice of Gordon Ramsey is realistic but not as condescending as he is in his reality show. The comments are repetitive and offer very little variation. Most of the sound effects are in the kitchen in the preparation area and with the timers on the stove. The background music adds nothing to the game.

The only thing about this game is it list of recipes that are reveled as the game progress. Different recipes are unlocked at the start of a new day. While they look delicious, some of the recipes are complicated. The home chef may find some of these recipes very daunting and unpractical to make, not to mention expensive.

This game has been seen and played before. It is very repetitive and Gordon Ramsey adds nothing to it. The pressure and tension of the real Hell's Kitchen is severely lacking. The recipes are good but are far too complicated to actually make. If they had payed more attention to the game and less to Gordon Ramsey it might have been better. I rate this game a 2 out of 5.
