Bedroom decor: How to design a Disney Wall-E theme bedroom

one color with Wall-E tracks running around the room. If you cannot paint the walls, a nighttime space effect can be achieved with glow in the dark stars and galaxies or a purchased light that projects moving stars. You can also make your own lamp: Purchase a lamp or lamp kit with either a black or a blue shade or paint your existing shade. On a piece of paper, draw and then cut out star, rocket or planet shapes or purchase stickers. Don't make the patterns too big, so that you can put more pieces on the shade. Place the pieces on the lampshade using a glue stick until you are happy with placement. Using a razor blade knife carefully cut out the patterns.

If you would like to do something with the flooring in the room, many scenes in the Wall-E movie feature a solid black floor or metal flooring. Garage flooring is perfect for creating a solid black flooring color or imitation-metal diamond plate flooring effect and is available through various retailers. These tiles are perfect for those who do not own their home and yet want a flooring change because they can be laid on existing flooring. The polypropolene construction offers easy installation, just snap together using male and female tabs. These easy to clean tiles are stain resistant, offer a non-slip surface and come in many colors. One online retailer is GreatMats.com. The site address is: http://www.greatmats.com/produ cts/diamond-plate-tile.php.

Whi le the Wall-E movie is light-hearted, it deals with some very real global issues. If you are interested in teaching your child the importance of caring for your environment, the Wall-E movie may give you just that opportunity. The theme for your child's bedroom can help teach your child about environmental issues and what they can do for future generations. The Hearts and Minds website gives links for helping to teach your child about environmental issues, the address is: http://heartsandminds.org/link s/greenkids.htm, also check out the kids page on the Environmental Protection Agency's website at: http://www.epa.gov/kids/

Don't forget to include in the design of the bedroom a plant for your child to take care of. Plants teach responsibility and while they can be killed, it's not quite as devastating as say not feeding the puppy.

For additional ideas, pictures of Wall-E's home, truck and friends are available at the Disney Pixar website for the Wall-E movie whose link is at: http://disney.go.com/disneypic tures/wall-e/.

When you have finished with your Wall-E themed room and are ready to reveal it to your child, just quote Wall-E and say "Ta-da!"
