Is it possible to support our troops in Iraq, but not support the war? I have four words for you, in answer to that question .... "You Bet Your Ass!" I have the utmost respect for these men and women, who have volunteered their very lives, who were sent overseas, to fight, and sometimes give their lives and limbs, for this country. These men and women ...... our own sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters, our mothers and fathers ...... they are our TRUE heros. These are the people we should all be looking up to, instead of our so-called T.V. and movie "stars", the sports "stars", and the music "stars".
What a joke it becomes, when so-called "intelligent" Americans, are more involved in the day to day lives of "Brangelina", "Tomkat", "Bennifer", Brittney, Lindsay and Paris, than they are in the day to day lives of our brave men and women fighting in the Iraqi war. Personally, it makes me sick to my stomach. Send those "pseudo- stars" into combat, then maybe I will be impressed with their hi-jinx. Until they actually do something good for this country, (and the people HERE in OUR country), then I do not want to hear about ANY of them.
We, the United States, cannot police the world, and it is high time the "powers that be", the Fat Cats in D.C. come to that realization. Don't get me wrong ... after 9/11, I was all for going over there and kicking some Arab ass. It has been 7 years now, and have we gotten any closer to ol' Binny Laden, the mastermind, (we are told) behind the terrorist attacks of 9/11? And how many of our troops, our bravest of the brave have lost their lives, fighting a lost cause? How can this great country, this SUPER POWER of the world, not be able to find a 6'4" Arab in need of dialysis for kidney failure, in the middle of some God-forsaken desert ? (If we are to believe what the media tells us) Those people over there in Iraq and Afgannistan, etc. , have been fighting, and killing each other from the beginning of time, and they will continue killing each other until the end of time, whether the United States, and our allies, are there or not. I don't think it's right, but it will never be stopped. That's just the way it is. I do feel sorry for some of those people, because I know, they are not all religious extremists, but I think we need to concentrate on our own problems here at home,in America, before we send our young men and women overseas. Homelessness, hunger, child abuse, THESE are the causes this country needs to be battling.
