Flight to Family
July 21st 2008
There are many reasons for
Putting words to rhyme
And this is one important day
A very special time.
In the morning off you fly
To a new tomorrow
now I watch you close a door
With happy tears of sorrow.
Yes my son, my only one,
My joy, my love, my pride.
Very soon you'll come to know
The love I have inside
All the memories that fill
My mind, my soul, my heart,
Of all the times I held you close
Together and apart.
This good- bye is of a kind
Different from the rest
Because this time you have to be
The better of the best.
As you plan to stand before
The woman of your life
And ask her to be one with you
For her be your wife.
As you hold your new born son
As surely you will do
Remember that the love you feel
Is the same I feel for you.
