Who is your favorite character from One Life to Live and why?

It's funny that I found this article when I did. I was watching One Life to Live and have been all day long, as I record it and haven't until today found the time to catch up.

The show has a history of strong characters, each with an appeal that would make them a viable candidate for "favorite character".

But I am going to write about a recent addition to the cast.

Gigi Morasco, as played by Farah Fath.

First of all, I am going to praise the actress that portrays Ms. Morasco. I had watched Farah Fath play Mimi Lockhart on Days of Our Lives and I loved her portrayal of the quirky character. She took the supprtive, best friend role and made it her own. Eventually, shewas rewarded for her efforts by getting an entire family centered around her character. She became a lead character toward the end of her run. In early 2007, she left Days and I have to admit, I kind of drifted away from it as well. It just wasn't the same without Mimi there.

When I found out Farah Fath was going to join One Life to Live, I was slightly disappointed: I was hoping she would go to General Hospital if she did another soap since I was already watching it. But since I knew well ahead of time that she was joining OLTL, I started watching it.

Secondly, One Life to Live did a very smart thing when they introduced the character of Gigi. They didn't force the character down the viewers throats. Instead, they had her slowly introduced in a storyline where she befriended the shows biggest character, Viki Buchanan. Steadily, she became involved with other characters, such as Marcie and Todd. But again, she was a well-liked support to the some of the show's most popular characters.

Throughout all of it, Gigi was the supportive friend. She was likeable and a willing sounding board to other characters. We found out she was a single mom and was obviously uncomfortable talking about the child's father.

It wasn't until Rex Balsom ran into Gigi, that we got a glimpse that the character would share a history with him. Viewers would soon find out that Gigi's son was fathered by Rex and that they were high school sweethearts. The chemistry between the characters is electric. Rex still doesn't know that he is the boy's father, and Gigi's dilemma will have major ramifications in the future.

By now, the character that had been such a good friend to Viki and Marcie was now someone that we want to root for on her own. This is what happens when you combine a great actress, a well though-out introduction and excellent writing.

I look forward to seeing what happens to her next.
