Poetry: Being a mother

by Denica Samuels

Created on: July 20, 2008

Timeless, Eternal happiness
My first child
A lasting love
LAsting more than a second, minute, a while
It took nothing of me
To love this miracle, this joy, my child
The beggining of unconditional love
Unexpecting experiences
Giving myself and all to this deserving life I hold in my arms
Nothing was ever as beautiful a moment
When I first heard him cry
Though it seemed as if it lasted forever
There was nothing i would rather hear for the rest of my life
I regreted thinking that the moment I took him home
No sleep, no rest, no more girls night out
But still unknown as where this come froms
I love him more than he can understand
I watch his squints, listen to his sniffles, stare into his eyes
In complete wonder and amazement that he belonged to me, he was mine
The first time he smiled, it bought warmth to my heart
Nothing beats his first word, his first step
Never a funny person
Hes the only one who laughs at my funny faces and funny noises
Changing diapers is the worst
But to hear him call me "Mama"
Is like music to my ears
I am his mother
He is my son
Nothing beats a mother's love
