Things that may slow down your computer

Just by visiting websites over time is just one step taken to getting a slow computer. The performance of a computer is dependant on memory, hard disk space, graphics cards, and also the processing capability of the CPU and the motherboard.

Tools can be used to improve the computer such as buying or trying free anti-virus and anti-spy ware scanner programs.

So in a sense the type of websites visited and the activities done on line will slow down a computer.

The most obvious aspect of a slow computer would involve downloading games and installing them to the computer. After the computer desktop or laptop has reached its storage limit the computer starts slowing down, and there will be a virtual memory low status symbol displayed at the tool bar area of the computer.

Another aspect of computing maybe visiting websites that are not safe to visit. This may happen by chance or via habit. Sites including gambling sites leave tracking cookies, porn sites often have files that contain viruses and Trojans. The risks to a persons computer range from a low to a high risk threat in slowing down a computer. So by avoiding dangerous sites is a way of avoiding having to experience a slow running computer. Avoidance and prevention is always better than trying to find a cure for a problem.

An area where some people overlook is by not doing regular anti-spy ware and anti virus scans.

Having an e mail account involves receiving e mails some of which contain files. Some senders are certainly unknown to the recipient of that e mail. Opening a message from someone that you do not know is a major threat to the speed of a computer. The message might certainly contain scripts and contain Trojan files that are placed somewhere in a hidden file that gets placed inside the computer.

Also dusty environments may also slow down the computer in that the computer heat sink and fan fail to reach a cool temperature. Safely opening up the computer case and dusting and clearing parts of the computer may help to a certain extent.

Illegal downloads perhaps is the main culprit of slow computing. Also having too many games and files that take up too much memory, running too many programs at the same time is not going to help.

Having bad configuration of browser settings and Internet content, privacy settings and also on the advanced Internet options might not be optimally configured to get the best performance and usage overall from the computer.
